welcome to nighthill! the first thing we're going to address to anyone considering joining us is that we created this community with the only intention of having fun. this is the type of community where we as mods encourage people to be creative, extra and bring forth any thing you have wanted to do with a character in a town where quite literally anything can happen. the mods will bring forth daily updates about random things happening in town. sometimes those things are small and sometimes those things are big. sometimes those things are fun, pesky, dramatic or even comedic. character rules we are not exactly a supernatural or superpower community. so when you join your character should be 100% human. does this mean they can't get turned into a werewolf for three months only to have the ailment disappear under a blood moon? does this mean your character can't find themselves mastering telekinetic abilities only to find they've lost it weeks later? no! you can do all of these things and we won't police you. if you want your character to be a vampire for two months we're not going to tell you, "that's too long!" because if you're enjoying it and loving whatever makes you feel creative? we're here for it. the reason we suggest things be temporary is because you might get sick of your character being a vampire after a month and all of it's limitations! poof! the fangs are gone. your character can go back to milkshakes and cheeseburgers. the slice of life aspect don't worry, we're not a full blown non-sol community. these are town residents working and living in a town cursed by witches back in 1859. yeah we know, that doesn't sound like a slice of life community to you. what we mean is we don't have open threading on the fp, your characters still have their tiktoks, instagrams and dating apps to go around. we want people to socialize, make friends and live their lives. this idea, however, is about bringing creativity into the mix. now your character can go on a boring coffee date but find the dessert they just shared over that coffee? caused them to switch bodies for a day. that sort of thing.

setting up

the set up you can have an ic or an ooc journal because it seems to us journal choice is a personal preference and there is nothing wrong with either of them. please follow the basic etiquette of not having underscores or unncessary letters/numbers in your journal names. when applying you need two posts already up and ready to go in your journal, one ic and one ooc. both need to be backdated so that they're not on the fp when people run the add button. character information your ooc post needs to contain character information so that we understand you have a basic idea going forward. the most important thing we need to see is your character's full name, birthdate/age, occupation, hometown, etc. we do not require a lengthy bio or anything insane but we want to see at least 100-300 words about your character's personality and/or history. rejected applications will be deleted. as the mods of this community we reserve the right to reject anyone that doesn't seem like a good fit for the community.

required activity

character introductions we understand that introductions are very tedious because we've all had to do them so many times. that said, something has to be posted so that you can jump right in and we know you're not doa after 72 hours. since our community is different you're allowed to be a bit more creative though and we hope the setting inspires you to post something besides, "what's your favorite ice cream flavor?" (example: hey, i'm britney and last night three pesky pixies stole my dog.. who wants to help me find him and what is something weird that happened to you this week?" in addition! you can post anything you'd like - instagram post, basic question, survey, playlist. anything interactive counts except for dating app posts. montly update requirements are two posts per month. we are dying to see narratives but we know not everyone has the mental capacity every single month. so you can post anything you'd like just like your intros. think of how much fun you can have with instagram posts being able to add some supernatural pictures to the mix? see a suspicious animal that looks too much like a velicoraptor? go for it! mod & member directed activities we are brimming with activity ideas and heavily partaking in plot posts and other events will and can count as 1 of 2 of your required monthly updates.

everything else

be inclusive! everyone who joins person should come in with a positive, friendly attitude. this is a collaborative hobby and no plots or activities will revolve around everyone so you should join being willing to work with everyone. wire, discord, telegram, etc. are only welcome if you're spending more time on the fp/in customs. we have no issues with the app unless it over runs the community. as other mods have put it: not everyone can be on a texting app but everyone can be on ij. please me mindful and 100% as attentive to yoru customs and to intros/the fp as you are any app. we won't make it if we become an app focused community.
